Tweed Heads Custom Cabinets grew out of a simple frustration: too many local kitchens were being fitted with generic modules that ignored the salt air off the Tweed River, the humidity of a Cfa subtropical climate and the out-of-square walls of the region's older fibro and weatherboard cottages. Steve Smith set the business up to build cabinetry the right way for this stretch of coast, from the retiree renovations of Banora Point and Tweed Heads South to the new-build fit-outs along the Kings Forest corridor. The 2022 Northern Rivers floods reinforced the point that river-flat homes at Chinderah, Tumbulgum and Murwillumbah need cabinetry designed to be dried and salvaged, not landfilled. Every job is measured locally, made to suit the actual space and installed by the same person who quoted it.

Steve Smith owns and runs Tweed Heads Custom Cabinets, and after more than 12 years building cabinetry on the far-north-coast he knows exactly how a Fingal Head beach cottage differs from a new slab-on-ground home out at Casuarina. Steve measures every job himself, so nothing is lost between the quote and the install. He specifies moisture-resistant carcasses and corrosion-resistant hardware for salt-air homes near the Tweed River and the beaches, and he stands behind every kitchen, robe and vanity with a local warranty rather than a self-managed flat-pack run over the Queensland border.

Keeping the team small and local means the person who measures your kitchen in Kingscliff is the same person who builds it and fits it, and the same person you call if anything ever needs attention. We coordinate directly with your plumber, electrician and tiler so a Casuarina new-build or a Banora Point renovation runs to a tidy sequence.

Tweed Heads Custom Cabinets is a fully insured NSW cabinet maker holding a current NSW Contractors Licence and carrying $20 million in public liability cover. Owner Steve Smith brings over 12 years on the tools, building custom kitchens, wardrobes, laundries, vanities and bespoke joinery across the Tweed and wider Northern Rivers. We work only with compliant, legal benchtop materials: laminate, natural granite and marble cut by licensed stonemasons, porcelain and sintered surfaces, solid timber and stainless steel. We do not fabricate, supply or install engineered or reconstituted stone, which was banned nationally from 1 July 2024 to protect workers from silicosis.

Carcasses in wet areas are 16 to 18mm HMR moisture-resistant board with heat-sealed edges; hardware near the beach and river is corrosion-resistant, soft-close Blum or Hettich rated well beyond 100,000 open-close cycles. Every box is glued, dowelled and built square, then scribed and packed level on site to reveals within about 2mm.
