A laundry has to do a lot in a small footprint, and the layout is worth getting right. The most common request is a simple over-and-under: an under-bench cupboard housing the trough and washer connections, overhead cabinets for detergents and cleaning gear, and a hard-wearing bench you can fold on. In larger homes around Terranora and Bilambil Heights we build full walk-in laundries with a wall of tall cupboards, a built-in broom and mop cupboard, a pull-out or tilt-out hamper to keep washing off the floor, and a dedicated drop zone for shopping and keys by the internal garage door. For downsizers in Banora Point and Tweed Heads South we plan laundries for easy reach, with drawers instead of low cupboards and a raised trough to save the back. Wet-area cabinetry for a humid, flood-aware region

The laundry is one of the wettest rooms in the house, and the Tweed's climate makes that harder still: the hinterland station at Murwillumbah records well over 1,500mm of rain a year, with February the peak, and the coast stays warm and humid for months at a time. Boxes are glued and dowelled and packed dead level. Drawers run on full-extension runners rated to about 40kg, and soft-close Blum or Hettich hinges are good for well over 100,000 open-and-close cycles. Bench and door finishes are laminate, high-pressure laminate, timber veneer or a two-pack polyurethane top coat, all chosen to wipe down and hold up to detergent and damp. Around the trough we run a sealed upstand junction so water does not track behind the bench, and we can tile or fit a matching laminate splashback to the same detail, keeping the wet zone contained where the day-to-day splashing happens. Hinges are three-way adjustable so doors stay flush even as the room breathes through a humid Tweed summer.

Next we turn the measure into a clear design and a written, itemised quote. Materials, door styles, compliant benchtops, hardware and a realistic timeline are all set out plainly, with honest advice on trade-offs, such as laminate versus natural stone, or where two-pac is worth it. Because engineered stone is banned, you will only ever see legal, safe benchtop options. Nothing is ordered or built until you are happy and the quote is signed off.
